On a morning from a Bogart movie in a country where they turned back time you go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre contemplating a crime.
She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running like a water color in the rain.
Don't bother asking for explanations.
She'll just tell you that she came
She doesn't give you time for questions as she locks up you arm in hers.
And you follow 'til your sense of which direction completely disappears.
By the blue-tiled walls near the market stalls there's a hidden door she leads you to.
"These days," she says, "I feel my life just like a river running through
Well she looks at you so cooly and her eyes shine like the moon in the sea.
She comes in incense and pathchouli so you take her to find what's waiting inside Well morning comes and you're still with her and the bus and the tourists are gone. And you've thrown away your choice and lost your ticket so you have to stay on.
But the drumbeat strains of the night remain in the rhythm of the newborn day.
You know sometime you're bound to leave her but for now you're gonna stay

Got out of town on a boat goin' to southern islands
Sailing a reach before a followin' sea
She was makin' for the trades on the outside,
And the downhill run to Papeete Bay
Off the wind on this heading lie the Marquesas
We got eighty feet of the waterline, nicely making way
In a noisy bar in Avalon I tried to call you But on a midnight watch I realized why twice you ran away
Think about how many times I have fallen Spirits are using me, larger voices callin' What heaven brought you and me cannot be forgotten
I have been around the world
lookin' for that woman, girl
Who knows love can endure
And you know it will And you know it will When you see the Southern Cross for the first time
You understand now why you came this way
'Cause the truth you might be runnin' from is so small
But it's as big as the promise, the promise of a coming day
So I'm sailing for tomorrow, my dreams are a dyin'
And my love is an anchor tied to you, tied with a silver chain
I have my ship and all her flags are a flyin' She is all that I have left and music is her name
So we cheated and we lied and we tested And we never failed to fail, it was the easiest thing to do
You will survive being bested
But somebody fine will come along make me forget about loving you
In the Southern Cross

The wall on which the prophets wrote is cracking at the seams
Upon the instruments of death the sunlight brightly gleams
When every man is torn apart with nightmares and with dreams
Will no one lay the laurel wreath as silence drowns the screams

Confusion will be my epitaph As I walk a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh but I fear tomorrow I'll be crying
Between the iron gates of fate the seeds of time were sown
And watered by the deeds of those who know and who are known
Knowledge is a deadly friend when no one sets the rules
The fate of all mankind I see is in the hands of fools

Confusion will be my epitaph
As I walk a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh but I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.

Where it began
I can’t begin to know it
But then I know it’s going strong
Was in the spring,
and spring became a summer
Who’d have believe you’d come along

Hands touching hands
Reaching out touching me touching you Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good
Im inclined to believe there never would But now I’m
Look at the night and it don’t seem so lonely
We fill it up with only two
And when I hurt
Hurting runs off my shoulder
How can I hurt when holding you
Warm touching warm Reachin out touching me touching you
Hands touching hands Reaching out touching me touching you
Sweet Caroline Good times never seemed so good Im inclined to believe there never would Oh no no

Sun is shinin' in the sky,
There ain't a cloud in sight It's stopped rainin'
Everybody's in a play And don't you know It's a beautiful new day,
hey hey Runnin' down the avenue,
See how the sun shines brightly
In the city on the streets Where once was pity,
Mr. Blue Sky is living here today. Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why,
You had to hide away For so long where did we go wrong.
Hey there Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do,
Everybody smiles at you.
Hey you with the pretty face, Welcome to the human race
A celebration Mr. Blue Sky's Up there waitin' and today Is the day we've waited for Mr. Blue you did it right,
But soon comes Mis - ter Night, Creepin' over, now his Hand is on your shoulder, Never mind I'll remember you this I'll remember you this way.

Tonight my bag is packed
Tomorrow I'll walk these tracks
That will lead me across the border. Tomorrow my love and I Will sleep 'neath auburn skies
Somewhere across the border.
We'll leave behind my dear
The pain and sadness we found here
And we'll drink from Bravo's muddy water.
Where the sky grows gray and wide
We'll meet on the other side There across the border. or you I'll build a house
High upon a grassy hill
There across the border.
Where and pain and memory
Pain and memory have been stilled
There across the border.
And sweet blossoms fill the air
Pastures of gold and green Roll down into the cool clear waters.
And in your arms 'neath open skies I'll kiss the sorrow from your eyes
There across the border.
Tonight we'll sing the songs I'll dream of you, my corazn
And tomorrow my heart will be strong. And may the saints' blessings and grace Carry me safely into your arms
There across the border. or what are we Without hope in our hearts
That someday we'll drink from God's blessed waters.
And eat the fruit from the vine I know love and fortune will be mine
Somewhere across the border.

Sail on down the line
About half a mile or so
Don't really wanna know
where you're going
Maybe once or twice
Time after time I tried
To hold on to what we got
But now you're going
And I don't mind about the things you're gonna sail on
I give all my money and my time
I know it's a shame
But I'm giving you back your name
Yes, I'll be on my way
I won't be back to stay
I guess I'll move along
I'm looking for a good time

Sail on down the line
Funny how the time can go
Friends says they told me so but it doesn't matter
It was plain to see
That a small town boy like me Just wasn't your cup of tea I was wishful thinking
I gave you my heart and I tried to make you happy
And you gave me nothing in return
You know it ain't so hard to say
Would you please just go away
I've thrown away the blues
I'm tired of being used
I want everyone to know I'm looking for a good time Good time
